Brick by Brick: How Great Days Become a Great Life

There are days when creating feels effortless, and there are days when it doesn't.

Today was a mix of both.

I spent about two and a half hours painting, split between two TikTok Lives. I had to end the first stream early because I thought a new refrigerator was finally being delivered to one of my rental properties. Unfortunately, Lowe's never called to let me know they were arriving or that they had left. By the time I got there, they had already gone. Now I have to make another trip tomorrow, and it will cost me sleep after working a night shift.

It was frustrating.

Life has a way of throwing little obstacles in front of you when you're trying to build something meaningful. But moments like these are also reminders that success isn't determined by how smoothly everything goes. It's determined by how quickly you can refocus on what matters.

Tomorrow I'll reveal the Gryphon painting I've spent the last week creating. After that, I have one final large canvas to complete before reaching one of my biggest goals of the year: eight large original paintings in just two months.

That represents more than eight paintings.

It's hundreds of hours invested into learning, practicing, failing, improving, and showing up.

It's a body of work that I couldn't have imagined creating a few years ago.

As I prepare for my first live painting festival at Riahtfest, I feel an incredible sense of momentum. Every painting teaches me something new. Every livestream helps another person discover my work. Every finished piece becomes another brick in the foundation I'm building.

My goal isn't simply to create beautiful artwork.

I'm building an artistic career.

I want to grow my audience, develop my website, build an email list, release high-quality prints, create original commissions, and continue raising the value of my work as my skills and reputation grow.

Art isn't just something I make.

It's becoming the engine that powers the life I'm trying to create.

One day I hope to own land where artists, musicians, and creators can gather. A place with galleries, workshops, camping, RV spaces, weddings, festivals, and creative collaborations. A place where people leave feeling inspired to make something meaningful with their own lives.

That dream doesn't begin when I buy the property.

It begins every day I choose to show up in the studio.

I've realized something important this year.

Progress isn't built through constant intensity.

It's built through consistency.

Sometimes there are incredible breakthrough sessions. Other days, it's simply putting in a few focused hours when you're tired, discouraged, or distracted. Those ordinary sessions matter just as much because they compound over time.

Great sessions become great weeks.

Great weeks become transformative months.

Transformative months become extraordinary years.

That's how a life changes.

This year has also reminded me that building a meaningful life isn't just about making more art. It's about creating systems that support every area of life—health, relationships, finances, creativity, learning, and personal growth. The stronger those systems become, the easier it is to keep moving forward, even when motivation fades.

Looking back, I'm proud of what I've accomplished already.

More than 50 original artworks completed this year.

Hundreds of hours spent learning my craft.

A growing online community.

A creative practice that feels more sustainable than ever before.

Perhaps the achievement I'm most proud of has nothing to do with art itself.

I chose creation over distraction.

I spent less time escaping into video games and more time building a life that feels aligned with who I want to become.

The path isn't always easy.

There are frustrating deliveries, long work shifts, creative blocks, and days when I'd rather do almost anything else.

But those moments are temporary.

The work remains.

If I continue showing up, improving a little every day, and putting another brick in place, I know I'll eventually build something far bigger than I can see today.

That's what gives me confidence.

Not talent.

Not luck.

Consistency.

Here's to the next painting.

The next livestream.

The next opportunity to create something meaningful.

Brick by brick, that's how dreams become reality.
